The Complete Motown Singles, Vol. 12A: 1972 Box Set

$99.98

Description

The first half of 1972, complete: five CDs holding 113 remastered tracks covering every single Motown released across those months, plus a bonus 7-inch.

The 7-inch is a collector's prize, carrying two recordings by The Blackberries that were never actually issued as a 45 at the time and appear for the first time in this set.

As throughout this series, the releases run in order of issue with A-sides, B-sides, promotional stereo versions and alternate mixes all in place, documenting a label in the middle of its move from Detroit to Los Angeles.

The accompanying 130-page book, presented in LP-style packaging, features contributions from Russ and Ralph Terrana, two key members of the Motown engineering staff, and Susan Whitall, longtime writer for The Detroit News, along with detailed track-by-track histories by Keith Hughes, Harry Weinger and Bill Dahl.
