Description

The Jewel In The Lotus presents Bennie Maupin's spacious, meditative side, built on woodwind textures, floating percussion, and stretches of collective quiet rather than hard-driving solos. Drawn from 1974 sessions, the music drifts between hushed ensemble passages and the looser, exploratory pulse of "Mappo" and "Excursion," occupying ground between post-bop, fusion, and avant-garde jazz. This LP edition reissues the album on vinyl through ECM Records.
