Description

Sublime is the self-titled third album by Sublime, released after the death of singer and guitarist Bradley Nowell. Its mix of punk, reggae, ska, hip-hop, and California dub helped bring the Long Beach trio’s sound to a much wider audience in the late 1990s.

“What I Got” carries the album’s loose, singalong ease, while “Santeria” turns a revenge fantasy into one of the band’s most enduring radio songs. “Wrong Way” and the closing “Doin’ Time” show the record’s range, moving from sharp narrative detail to a hazy, groove-based reworking of George Gershwin’s “Summertime.” Available here on CD.
