Description

Speak No Evil sits in the post-bop territory Wayne Shorter explored for Blue Note, pairing dark, folkloric melodies with open harmonic writing and a light, conversational rhythmic feel. Pieces such as "Witch Hunt" and the ballad "Infant Eyes" balance composed atmosphere with generous room for solo development. An alternate take of "Dance Cadaverous" rounds out the program with a second reading of one of the set's more elusive themes. This CD is the Rudy Van Gelder Edition.
