Down On The Upside is the fifth studio album by Soundgarden, released on May 21, 1996. Following a worldwide tour in support of their previous album, Superunknown (1994), Soundgarden commenced work on this release. Critically acclaimed for the band continuing to evolve their alt-rock sound, the Platinum selling album produced chart topping singles “Burden In My Hand,” “Pretty Noose” and “Blow Up The Outside World.”
In 2025, the song “Burden In My Hand” was featured in HBO's 'The Last Of Us.'
