Description

Pretzel Logic finds Steely Dan tightening their songwriting into compact, hook-led forms while keeping the jazz-tinged chord movement and studio precision that set them apart from their rock contemporaries. "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" and "Any Major Dude Will Tell You" lean melodic and bright, while "Barrytown" and "Charlie Freak" carry the group's wry, character-driven lyricism. The instrumental "East St. Louis Toodle-Oo", a Duke Ellington cover, nods to the band's older influences. Originally released in 1974.
