Description

Making Music pairs Zakir Hussain's tabla with a small ensemble that moves fluidly between Hindustani classical phrasing and open-ended contemporary jazz, with John McLaughlin on guitar, Jan Garbarek on saxophone, and Hariprasad Chaurasia on bamboo flute. Pieces such as "Water Girl" and "Sabah" favor melodic conversation and rhythmic detail over volume, unfolding at an unhurried pace. Originally released in 1987.
