The Mask And Mirror Definitive 2CD/DVD/BR

The Mask and Mirror Definitive Edition is the second installment in Loreena McKennitt’s ongoing Definitive Editions series, following the expanded treatment of The Visit in 2021. The set revisits McKennitt’s fifth studio album, originally released in 1994 and shaped by Spanish, Celtic, and Moroccan influences. The self-produced record marked a major international breakthrough for McKennitt, eventually selling more than three million copies worldwide.

The four-disc collection includes the remastered original recording, newly created Dolby Atmos and 5.1 mixes, and high-resolution stereo audio, as well as a restored 1994 Mountain Stage concert broadcast. Previously unreleased video material includes a 1994 promotional concert filmed at the Avon Theatre in Stratford, Ontario, while the set also restores the 1995 television documentary No Journey’s End. More than an hour of spoken-word material features McKennitt revisiting the album through archival interviews and newly recorded liner notes.

Songs including “The Mystic’s Dream,” “Marrakesh Night Market,” “The Bonny Swans,” and “The Dark Night of the Soul” reflect the album’s blend of literary sources and instrumentation spanning cello, uilleann pipes, tabla, dumbeg, and oud. The package contains two CDs, one DVD, and one audio Blu-ray in a deluxe DVD-sized casebound book with a 32-page booklet featuring original artwork, archival memorabilia, and a new essay by McKennitt.
