Description

Katy Lied pairs Steely Dan's jazz-schooled harmony with sharp pop-rock craft, moving from the brisk drive of "Black Friday" to the wry, downcast shading of "Doctor Wu" and "Any World (That I'm Welcome To)." The songs favor clean, precise ensemble playing, unexpected chord turns, and lyrics that sketch odd characters without ever spelling them out.
