Description

Karma is Pharoah Sanders' 1969 Impulse! album and one of the defining recordings of spiritual jazz. Produced by Bob Thiele, the album is centered on the expansive "The Creator Has a Master Plan," a long-form performance that moves through chant, modal intensity, free-jazz exploration, and meditative release. Sanders' tenor saxophone sound connects the album to the post-Coltrane avant-garde while also opening into a broader spiritual and communal atmosphere.
