John Coltrane’s Infinity is a posthumous release, issued in 1972 on Impulse! Records, drawing from late-period recordings originally cut in 1965. Produced by Alice Coltrane, the album layers new orchestration over existing sessions, placing it within the spiritual jazz direction that defined his final years.
The expansive “Peace on Earth” opens with meditative intensity, while “Living Space” revisits a familiar theme with added orchestral depth. “Joy” and “Leo” further highlight the contrast between Coltrane’s searching improvisations and the later-arranged textures surrounding them.
