Droppin' Science 2LP

Sorry Sold Out

Description

Droppin' Science gathers Blue Note soul-jazz and jazz-funk sides built on heavy drums, organ vamps and horn-led arrangements, the kind of material long mined by hip-hop producers for breaks and loops. Featuring Lou Donaldson, Donald Byrd, Ronnie Foster, David McCallum, Brother Jack McDuff, and Joe Williams, cuts such as "Mystic Brew," "Oblighetto," and "It's Your Thing" sit closer to funk and R&B territory than to straight-ahead bop, with several tracks reworking soul and pop songs as instrumentals. The collection appeals to crate-diggers and those drawn to groove-first jazz.
