Description

Down On The Upside finds Soundgarden loosening the dense sludge of their earlier work into something more open and unruly, built on unusual tunings, lurching time signatures and Chris Cornell's high, ragged vocal lines. Songs such as "Pretty Noose," "Blow Up the Outside World" and "Burden in My Hand" balance heavy riffing with genuine melodic craft, while the longer stretches of the album wander into stranger, more abrasive corners. Originally released in 1996.
