Cream’s Disraeli Gears, their second studio album, arrived in 1967 as the band expanded beyond their blues foundations into a more psychedelic sound. Recorded in New York during the Summer of Love, it reflects a shift in both production and songwriting, pairing heavier guitar work with more colorful, experimental arrangements.
“Sunshine of Your Love” became the album’s defining track with its instantly recognizable riff, while “Strange Brew” and “Tales of Brave Ulysses” explore the band’s growing interest in texture and atmosphere. Elsewhere, “SWLABR” and “We’re Going Wrong” lean into a looser, exploratory feel that contrasts with their earlier material. This CD edition presents the original album sequence.
