Description

Adore moves the Smashing Pumpkins away from the layered guitar assault of their earlier work and into darker, more nocturnal territory, where programmed rhythms, piano and acoustic textures carry much of the weight. Tracks such as "To Sheila," "Ava Adore" and "Perfect" range from hushed intimacy to brittle, electronic-tinged momentum, while the album's longer stretches favor atmosphere over immediacy.
