Description

A Swingin' Affair captures Dexter Gordon in relaxed, assured form, his tenor moving through hard bop originals, a slow ballad turn, and standards handled with unhurried authority. The August 29, 1962 session balances brisk, riff-driven momentum on pieces like "Soy Califa" and "McSplivens" with the hushed restraint of "Don't Explain," making it a strong fit. This LP edition, part of the BN80 series, was mastered from the original analog tapes.
