20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: The Best Of Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell CD

$13.98
The Best Of Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell (Motown/UME) edition of 20th Century Masters/The Millennium Collection features 11 of their most popular songs. Each track has been newly digitally remastered for this compilation. The package also includes an insightful new essay by the pair’s most frequent songwriter/producers, Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson. Gaye was a star on his way to superstardom when he first teamed with Terrell. She had toured with James Brown but was still a teenager when she signed to Motown in 1965. Though her solo career never took off, she would create magic with Gaye, who earlier had found success with other partners, Mary Wells and Kim Weston.
Tammi’s sexy voice and undeniable charisma was a perfect match for Gaye’s own romantic appeal. Their first album together, United (1967), was a Top 30 hit and included the Top 10 singles “If I Could Build My World Around You” and “Your Precious Love.” Also culled from that album for The Best Of Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell are “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” (Top 20 pop), “If This World Were Mine,” “Hold Me Oh My Darling” and the popular B-side, “Two Can Have A Party,” which appears on a Marvin/Tammi collection for the first time.
