Dirty is Sonic Youth’s seventh full-length studio album, recorded with producer Butch Vig as the band followed Goo deeper into the major-label era. The sessions took place at New York’s Magic Shop studio, with the resulting record balancing the group’s noise-rock vocabulary with a more direct approach.

“100%” delivers one of the album’s most concise bursts, “Sugar Kane” stretches into a winding guitar workout, and “Youth Against Fascism” turns political frustration into a blunt refrain. This deluxe 2-disc CD set expands the original album with B-sides, rehearsal recordings, demos, and additional material from the period.
