John Coltrane’s Blue Train was released in 1958 on Blue Note and stands as his only session as a leader for the label. Recorded in 1957 with a sextet that included Lee Morgan and Curtis Fuller, the album captures Coltrane at a transitional point, moving beyond hard bop conventions toward a more expansive approach.
