Sacred Arias CD
Sacred Arias is destined to become a collector’s item. As a holiday bonus, the album contains two Christmas tracks – “Silent Night” (performed in English with a children’s choir) and the glorious “Adeste Fideles.” The last track, “Gloria A Te, Cristo Gesu,” is under consideration to be named as The Vatican’s official millennium hymn.
Bocelli and PBS are a successful team. Bocelli’s first television program, “A Night In Tuscany” has been lauded as one of the most triumphant fundraiser programs ever for PBS. To coincide with the release of Sacred Arias, PBS’s top station, WNET, has produced a new “Great Performances” special entitled Andrea Bocelli – Sacred Arias. Shot entirely on location in Rome, Italy, the program was filmed in the majestic Santa Maria sopra Minerva basilica. The special includes all of the music heard on the Sacred Arias album, plus interstitial footage of Bocelli at home with family and friends. The official premiere broadcast date is December 1st which kicks-off the PBS December pledge drive.
